We take the Great Commission seriously (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandment [Love God and Love others] seeing seven incredibly important pieces surrounding the church’s disciple-making mandate in Jesus’ final words:
Our beliefs are based on Jesus’ Great Commission to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).
We’ve elaborated below to explain just what our mission & vision statement of “Magnifying God by Making Disciples who Reach the Nations” means for us. If you’d like a more in-depth explanation of our doctrinal beliefs, you may want to read The Baptist Faith & Message
We believe that God is the Creator of all that exists, and that he himself has existed eternally in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 64:8; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; John 16:7-15; Hebrews 1:2-3.
We believe that God created us to worship or magnify him by glorifying him and enjoying him forever. Isaiah 43:7, 21 ; Psalm 96:9; Matthew 4:10
We believe that sin has kept us from knowing God and worshipping him but that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, was physically resurrected, and now offers a restored relationship with God to all who believe in him. John 3:16 ; Acts 2:22-39 ; Romans 3:21-24
We believe that salvation is a free gift given at God’s initiative, by the work of Jesus on our behalf, wrought by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the sharing of the gospel, and must be received personally by repentance and faith. John 5:24 ; Romans 10:9-10 ; Ephesians 2:8-9
We believe the Bible is God’s Word, a true and fully accurate account of who God is and how he has demonstrated his very great love for us to redeem a broken, lost world. Through his word, we can meet with God, hear from God, see his glory, and hear how he has made a way for us to have a relationship with him, worship him, and bring him glory forever. Psalm 19:7-10 ; 2 Timothy 3:15-17 ; 2 Peter 1:19-21
We believe that Jesus established his Body on Earth in the Church and that the Church is a community that exists to make disciples. Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:18-20 ; 1 Peter 2:9
We believe that making disciples involves an intentional lifestyle, a surrendered heart seen in Baptism, an obedient will under the authority of God’s word, & a confident faith that we have been made at peace with God through Jesus. All true disciples are repentant, obedient, and submitted followers of Jesus gifted for disciple-making ministry in the church. 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 ; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Colossians 1:27-28
We believe the church is a family of baptized believers and that every believer should be identified with a local body of believers for the purpose of doing spiritual good to one another through mutual encouragement and accountability resulting in spiritual growth in the likeness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-16 ; Colossians 3:12-25 ; Hebrews 10:24-25
We believe that God cares for every person and that the local church, as a unique expression of Christ’s Body, is to show his love and care to everyone. Every member of the church is called to be a minister of the gospel through acts of loving service to those in the church and to share the truth of the gospel at every opportunity with everyone. John 13:34-35 ; 1 Peter 3:15 ; 1 Peter 4:8
We believe that the scope of God’s love is worldwide, and this church is committed to taking the gospel to the farthest and most unreached places of the world. Isaiah 49:6 ; Matthew 28:18-20 ; Romans 10:13-15 ; 1 Timothy 2:3-4
